An Extensive Landscape by Gabriel Perelle (c.1650)

A romantic landscape by the 17th century French draftsman and printmaker Gabriel Perelle (1604-1677) showing two figures in the foreground with a horsemen and other figures behind. Typical of his work, this original etching, dating from around 1650, shows ruined buildings and a bridge in the distance. Below the image the work is titled – Inviuente et Grave par Perelle – avec Priuil du Roy – A Paris Chez Pierre Mariette, Rue S. Jacques a L’Esperance.

In good condition bearing in mind its considerable age.

Measures 17 cm wide by 9 cm deep (31 cm by 22 cm in its ebonised frame).
