A very pleasing pastel by the Cromarty artist Alexander Merrie Hardie (1910-89) showing a lane and the backs of houses  in the Ross-shire village where he lived and worked. In fine condition in its original frame, this work is signed by the artist and dated 1961.

Seascape With Fishing Boats, French School

A small oil on panel of a seascape with fishing boats in a choppy sea with lowering clouds overhead and cliffs in the distance.  One of the boats is flying a red, white and blue tricolour which suggests it could be a French vessel.  Unsigned. In good condition in its original frame.

A nice etching by Robert Nesbet Snodgrass depicting two young birds sitting on a branch. They could be robins, sparrows or more likely, from the length of their claws, baby treecreepers. Delightfully illustrated. In good condition, signed in pencil. In original frame which reflects age.

Corsica by William Coutts Keppel, Viscount Bury

A lovely watercolour entitled “Corsica from Evisa looking towards Porto”,  by William Coutts Keppel, Viscount Bury (1832-1894). Showing an extensive landscape with steep hills left and right and houses in the middle distance. Recently reframed and remounted and in fine condition, unsigned but titled in paint by the artist and bearing part of an original label, verso,  attributing this work. In 1860 Coutts Keppel represented this part of the world in Parliament which fact  could account for it turning up here in the Highlands of Scotland.

A fine etching of The Ship and Stars Inn, Bristol, by Frances Abel William Taylor Armstrong RBA RWA  (1849-1920).  Numbered 3 from an edition of 38. Signed and with a remarque indicating the title, edition number and that the plate has been destroyed.  Dated 1898 on the plate. In good condition.  Mounted but unframed.

Ayr by Sir David Young Cameron

Ayr, a fine etching by D.Y. Cameron. Shows a busy quayside scene with barges and sailing ships. Dated 1889 on the plate and signed in pencil  by Cameron and by his printer, Frederick  Fielding, the premier printer of his day.  This work is in good condition having been reframed and remounted.
