James McNaught, born in Glasgow in 1948, enjoyed drawing and painting as a boy and, in 1966, without any formal qualifications, was accepted unconditionally at Glasgow School of Art, where he stayed until 1970. This present picture, a Highland landscape, is not typical of his current work. McNaught taught art in a Catholic boys school, but, on his retirement, began painting full time. His pictures hang in simportant private collections in Germany, Holland, Australia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, the U.S.A and Costa Rica.
