The Great Oak Near Rowmill, East Linton -Watercolour, Unsigned

An absolutely stunning Victorian watercolour showing a venerable and quite massive oak tree at East Linton, near Edinburgh. Two children and an old bent man can be seen in the foreground. Unsigned but obviously by the hand  of an  accomplished artist.This work is in good condition with no blemishes or fading.

Measures 48 cm wide by 35 cm deep (57 cm by 48 cm in its frame and mount).

The Old Osprey Tree, Loch Maree by Finlay Mackinnon(1903)

A very old watercolour by the Scottish artist Finlay Mackinnon showing the shore of Loch Maree on the West Coast of Scotland and identifying a venerable tree which he calls “The Old Osprey Tree.” This work is in good condition and signed and dated 1903 by the artist. Verso on  the actual artwork but now obscured by the framing are a few barely legible notes by the artist about the  numbers of eggs laid in the nest in the late 1880’s.

Measures 25 cm wide by 35 cm deep (44 cm by 54 cm in its frame).

Craigcrook Loch, Edinburgh, Indistinctly Signed

A lovely little image of Craigcrook Loch, in Edinburgh, one of the original and historic sheets of water in the proximity of the city – an ancient loch described as “one of the seven eyes of old Dun Edin”.  This work is titled  “Craigcrook Pond” and  dated “04” – presumably 1904- and appears to bear a signature – possibly “Wild”. In good condition.

A Pair Of Watercolours of Old Kilsyth by Alex Gibson (exh. 1912-1940)

Kilsyth, near Glasgow,  in past times  by the Scottish artist Alex Gibson.  One image is of Tarnbrae, not far from the village, and the other shows the architecture of the old buildings in the hamlet itself.  Both signed and titled by the  artist and in good condition.

Each measures 33.5 cm wide by 23.5 cm deep (50 cm by 40 cm in its frame).
