Port St. Mary- Isle of Man, indistinctly signed

A watercolour heightened with white showing a woman with child in  arms standing on the quayside at Port St. Mary, on the Isle of Man, surrounded with the paraphenalia of fishing boats. They are looking out to sea at the arrival or departure of the local fishing fleet, part of which can be seen in the distance.  This work is quite old, probably Victorian judging by the dress of the mother and is indistinctly signed, lower right. Generally in good condition in has a few, small and insignificant marks.

Measures 43.5 cm wide by 35.5 cm deep (64 cm by 54 cm in its original frame).

A fine gouache painting by the contemporary Belgian artist Renee Kempen (b 1914) depicting a harbour or dockside scene, possibly on the River Scheldt where she lived. This strong, vibrant, expressionist scene is by an artist who has been described as one of the best in Belgium, shows boats tied up at a quayside below a turbulent sky. It is in good condition, behind glass, and has recently been reframed.

An oil on canvas behind glass by the Scottish artist James Grant Leckie Ewing who flourished around the 1900’s. This work shows a rural Scottish township, somewhere in the Highlands, with an old woman working  her spinning wheel at the door of her home, her chickens at her feet. In the distance is a bridge with houses behind. In good condition. There are two old, small repairs to the canvas. It has been reframed at some time.

Measures 49 cm wide by 34 cm deep (68.5 cm by 53.5 cm in its frame).
