A delightful oil on board by the fine Scottish artist Alexander Milligan Galt. This work is titled, verso – “The Clyde At Gourock” – with the artist indicating that it is a view at the Ashton Promenade looking to Cove and Argyllshire. There are a number of inscriptions, verso, (see attached pics). One is signed by Galt, giving his address at Cornhaddock Street in Greenock. and dating it to 1973. This work has recently been professi0nally cleaned and reframed and the original inscriptions, still present behind the actual work, are obscured by a backboard.
