Born in 1920 in Grangemouth, Scotland, the renowned artist and musician Alan Davie was educated at the Edinburgh College of Art, and exhibited his work until his death in Hertfordshire, England in 2014 at the age of 93. Strongly inspired by Zen philosophies, his work is characterised by vivid colour, semi-abstract forms, and enigmatic symbolism, inspired by Zen spirituality and the analytical psychology of Carl Jung.
