Gentles Close, Canongate, Edinburgh

A very interesting little etching this, of a famous and lost Edinburgh close. This work shows a girl on her pony being led through an arch in the close. Another pony or donkey is tethered to a wall at the entrance. This is signed on the plate but the name is indistinct. It could be “J.M. … Bell”. In good condition.

Measures 18 cm wide by 24 cm deep (27.5 cm by  37.5 cm in its frame and mount).
