The Colleoni Monument, Venice by William Renison (1929)

A super etching by the  Scottish artist William Renison  depicting the  equestrian monument to Bartolomeo Colleoni in Venice. Signed in pencil and in good condition in is original frame. The  395 cm high (excluding pedestal) Renaissance sculpture, in Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, was executed by Andrea del Verrocchio in 1480-1488. It portrays the condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni (who served for a long time under the Republic of Venice), and is the second major equestrian monument of Italian Renaissance, after Donatello‘s Equestrian statue of Gattamelata (1453).

Measures 40 cm wide by 35.5cm deep (66.6 cm by 61.5 cm in its frame).
