Educated at Glasgow School of Art between 1929 and 1933, James Robert Wallace Orr was a well-known Scottish artist who worked in Glasgow, Kirkcudbright, Helensburgh and Prestwick. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts, and the Hunterian Museum and Gallery in Glasgow. Orr was also a skilled engraver and his work is represented in the City of London, the Guildhall Gallery, City Hall, Aylesbury, the Hunterian, Glasgow and the University of Stirling and elsewhere..
A lively oil on canvas in the Colourist style by the Scottish artist James Robert Wallace Orr entitled, verso, “Memories Of Colonsay” showing a choppy sea with hills in the distance. In good condition in its original frame and signed and dated 1974 by the artist.
