Born in Georgetown, in British Guiana, Robert Batchelor emigrated to Scotland where he studied at Grays College of Art, in Aberdeen between 1946 and 1950.  Later he became a teacher, heading up the art departments of a number of schools in Scotland. In 1974 he set up the Peacock Printmakers Workshop in Aberdeen and later became a Professional Member of the Aberdeen Arts Society.  He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Scottish Society of Watercolour Artists. His work was acquired by prestigious organisations and companies including Grampian Television, the Aberdeen Art Gallery, Shell and Mobil North Sea.
