Born in Manchester in 1844, Herbert Moxon Cook lived in London before moving to Prestatyn in North Wales where he painted coastal scenes and landscapes in both watercolour and oils. He exhibited 5 works at the Royal Academy, 15 at the Glasgow Institute, 6 at the Royal Scottish Academy, 13 at the Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, 20 at Liverpool’s Walker Gallery and at other prestigious galleries and institutions in the UK.
A very nice little seascape entitled “Whitby Sands” and signed and dated 1894 by the artist Herbert Moxon Cook (1844-1929). In good condition having been reframed at some time.
Measures 23 cm wide by 34 cm deep (43 cm by 56 cm in its mount and frame).
