Born in Ayrshire, this oil, watercolour and mixed-media artist studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1959 until 1964 under Mary Armour and David Donaldson. Having started her career as a teacher, by the age of 27 she was a full-time artist who has gone on to become one of the most successful female painters working in Scotland today. Her work is held in many public and corporate collections world-wide, including the Royal Bank of Scotland and Sara Lee Holdings. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Scottish Society of Women Artists, she has won numerous awards from prestigious institutions and societies, including the Anne Redpath Award at the SSWA in 1982 and the Glasgow Herald Painting Competition at the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1986.
