The Invergordon-based artist Donald Shearer specialised in the landscapes and seascapes of the North of Scotland. Being a keen golfer and a leading Scottish painter, it was natural that one of his favourite subjects was golf courses of which there are many in this part of the world. But it was for his highly detailed and striking landscapes that he is best known, his original work and limited edition prints being collected by enthusiasts all over the world
Born in the in the Kyle of Lochalsh, on Scotland’s West Coast, Donald Shearer studied painting in Aberdeen at Grays School of Art where he achieved an RSA Award. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
