David Ramsay was born in Ayr in 1869 and after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art went on to teach at Greenock Academy. He exhibited between 1909 and 1940 and showed 9 works at the Glasgow Institute, 5 at Liverpools Walker Gallery, 9 at the Royal Academy and 16 at the Royal Scottish Academy.
