Another interesting architectural view of old Edinburgh- the back of Advocates Close by the local artist Robert Smith Forrest (1871-1943). Signed and titled in pencil, this work is mounted but unframed.  In good condition – no foxing but some slight yellowing.

Gentles Close, Canongate, Edinburgh

A very interesting little etching this, of a famous and lost Edinburgh close. This work shows a girl on her pony being led through an arch in the close. Another pony or donkey is tethered to a wall at the entrance. This is signed on the plate but the name is indistinct. It could be “J.M. … Bell”. In good condition.
