Living and working on the lovely Isle of Skye, the printmaker Tom MacKenzie was renowned for his wonderful colour etchings of the island and the West Coast of Scotland. These large and very stylish etchings are now appreciated and collected worldwide. Working from his studio and workshop in Portree, the Island’s capital, Mackenzie used three steel plates to produce his etchings and limits the editions to 75 or less, printed on 300gm, Arches waterleaf paper. He was a very popular figure in Portree where he lived and worked and a much-respected artist thoughout Scotland.

Shows Glamaig, the most northerly of the Red Hills on Skye, immediately east of Sligachan and one of only two Corbetts on the island, seen from the adjacent isle of Raasay. In good condition in its original frame and mount, and signed and titled by the artist, numbered 52 from a run of 75.Measures 48 cm wide by 32 cm deep (60 cm by 52 cm in its frame).
