A student of the sculptor Theophile Barrau , Paul Loiseau was active at the turn of the last century when he exhibited at the salons of the Society Nationale Des Beaux-Arts, winning a third-class medal in 1892 and a second-class medal three years later. In 1900, he was awarded the gold medal at the Paris World Fair and was inducted into the Legion of Honour in 1901 as a knight. His busts, animal figures and statuettes, often with African themes, fall within the Art Nouveau genre.

A Bronze Sculpture Of A Racehorse and Jockey Taking A Fence – After Paul Loiseau (1861-1927)

 A bronze sculpture of a  racehorse with jockey up and in mid jump over a naturalistically cast hedge, on similarly cast base, after  the French artist Paul Louis Emile Loiseau-Rousseau (1861-1927) and  bearing  the signature E. Loiseau.  The patination is  dark brown  and the model is  mounted on a veined black marble moulded base.
Measures  37 cm wide by 40 cm long by 16 cm high  by 16 cm high on its base.
