Born in Berlin in 1832, the portrait, landscape, animal and genre painter Otto Weber worked in Rome and Paris where he showed frequently at the Salon. winning prizes in 1869. Between 1874 and 1888, the year in which he died, he showed at the Royal Academy and at other prestigious institutions and galleries both here in the UK and abroad. He painted the portraits of a number of European Royals as well as likenesses of their pet dogs. He was particularly known for his landscapes and for cattle and equine subjects. He died in London.
