Jacob Gillberg, one of Sweden´s finest engravers, studied in Paris with the support of the Swedish Ambassador to France, Alexander Roslin. After returning to Sweden he held a position as professor at the Art Academy. He also set up his own engraving academy in Stockholm.

A lovely and very rare engraving in the chalk manner by  the Swedish artist Jacob Gillberg (1724-1793) entitled “Head Of A Girl Turned To The Left” after Jean-Baptiste Marie Pierre (French, Paris, 1714-1789). In good condition – one small insignificant  artist’s mark to margin, lower right.

Measures 34 cm wide by 26.6 cm deep (56 cmby 49.5 cm in its frame and mount).
