Born in Hammersmith, London, the son of an architect, the painter, etcher and engraver Gerald Maurice Burn was educated at the London University School before going on to study in Europe at Antwerp, Dusseldorf and Paris. He exhibited on the continent and then at the the Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists and Liverpool’s Walker Gallery and elsewhere.
Entitled “Evening”, this is a lovely little seascape showing a two-masted sailing ship at rest on a flat sea. In good condition in its original frame and mount and signed and titled in pencil.
Measures 9 cm wide by 12 cm deep (27 cm by 32 cm in its frame).
