Three Marine Ink Sketches by David Octavius Hill (1802-1870)

P1050753P1050754P1050755P1050758

A set of three lovely little ink drawings by the Scottish artist and photographer David Octavius Hill, recently reframed and remounted. Whilst there is light foxing in all three of the drawings, they have been left in their original state since this does not seriously detract from the beauty of these lovely images. Two are initialled and all three show extensive landscapes – one of Ellen Stalker Castle and another of a loch scene whose name is indistinct. The third shows a three-masted ship.

Each measures 11 cm by 5.5 cm (39.5cm by 35 cm in their mounts and frames).

P1050175P1050178

An original and thought-provoking work from the Scottish contemporary artist John Byrne entitled “In The Garden Of Rememberance Another Flower Dies”.
