The Fishertown, Cromarty by Murray Macdonald R.S.A. (1892)

A lovely little oil on panel showing part of the historical fishing village of Cromarty, on the Moray Firth, with boats on the horizon.  Boats are drawn up on the shore and people are working on their nets. Signed by Murray Macdonald RSA and dated 1892. Titled in ink, verso. In good condition in its original frame.

Measures 36 cm side by 15.5 cm deep (54 cm by 33 cm in its frame).

Abstract Still Life by Alex Girdwood ( Contemporary)

Entitled “Kitchen Still Life”,  this is a very nice little picture by the Dumfriesshire artist Alex Girdwood.  In good condition in its original frame. Unsigned but bearing a label, verso, giving a title and signature  for Girdwood’s own gallery,  the Maxwelltown Gallery, in Dumfries.

Measures 24 cm wide by 17 cm deep (42 cm by 35 cm in its frame).

Cottage Interior in Shandwick, Ross-shire – indistinct signature

Interior of a Victorian cottage in the little fishing village of Shandwick, in Ross-shire, Scotland, showing an old woman sitting in front of the fire, doing her knitting. This work shows some interesting domestic features, including the form of the fire-place and the traditional bed.

This work appears to show part of an indistinct signature, lower right.  It is in good condition in its original frame.
